Sandbach Match Report
Girls Fight Back To Clinch Victroy
The Girls took on a much bigger and stronger team in Sandbach United and were slow to start this one, unsure if that was down to nerves or the goalkeeper last time the teams met having a worldie.
The match started with Crosfields struggling to find any fluidity or composure in the middle of the pitch and went 1 nil down towards the end of the first half all be it a little unlucky to be going in down with post and crossbar being struck.
A few words from Stew and Paul, emphasising the need to take our time, put our foot on the ball and look up seemed to do the trick. Aided by playing into a strong head wind the girls hand no option but to play the ball on the floor. The team whilst flowing forward in search of an equaliser were rock solid at the back with Fiona Dennett (making her competitive debut), Scarlett Campbell and Elle Whittaker all combining to hold off any sandbach attacks.
Megan Parker scored the equaliser after the ref waved a great advantage on following a trip to Katie Richardson, Millie Perry then completed the swing in fortunes with a blockbuster in to the far corner. Crosfields continued to go in search of a third that would seal victory and got it following great work down the right from Millie Perry whos cross was turned into the Sandbach goal following a great run and pressure at the near post by Katie Richardson.
A great performance in the second half, in which sandbach paid a massive compliment to the girls by going to 3 at the back and trying to shut up shop.
Well done girls a great performance that you should all be extremely proud of!
