BIRD FLIES IN AT THE WELLS.

After a traumatic week for all concerned at the Tunbridge Wells, they have announced Keith Bird as their manager with Jason Bourne as his assistant.

May be the dust can settle now.
Wells' Chairman Clive Maynard announced yesterday that the club have appointed the former Cray Wanderers manager, Keith Bird, as their new manager, with Jason Bourne as his assistant manager.
Reading the announcement on their website it does appear Bird will also be appointing at least one, may be more, people to his management team and these details will follow early next week.
One can guess that the Wells fans will now look to see what players will stay, what players will leave, over and above those that have already done so and who the new manager will bring in to enhance the squad.
Another person who will now doubt look to calmer weeks ahead is the Chairman himself, after all, he thought he had a manager, announced it, then found out he didn't have a manager and then had to go hunting again to find a replacement for the departed Martin Larkin.
He also offered to resign as well of course, but this was unanimously rejected by the board, so I'm sure Maynard has had better weeks in his football life and will hope that the club can now start to concentrate on the season ahead, especially as they have their first friendly fixture next Saturday.
The appointment of Jason Bourne will definitely go down well with the fans and the senior players at the club, who were apparently consulted over the managerial appointments this time and it would appear that Bourne is a future Tunbridge Wells manager in the making, if you read the announcement.
Wells fans may like to know whether Keith was in the original list of applicants and on the Chairman's interview list, if not on any list originally, what happened to those applicants and more importantly, does it concern Keith or not that he was not first choice originally.
However, whether these questions get answered or not will matter not one iota if the Wells get off to a good start, playing good football and are near the top of the league after a month or so, as this week will then fade into a distant memory and the rights or wrongs of the situation will be forgotten.
Things like the week the Wells have had happen in football, we've been in a similar place once and you do come out of it hopefully, in a better place.
We wish our A26 neighbours well and that Keith and Jason prove to be a successful team for the Culverden Stadium outfit, until they play us of course!
