A rather bizarre event happened during the League One game last night between Doncaster Rovers and Notts County.

Led to manager being sent to the stand as well.
The Notts County striker, Kwame Thomas, who had been shown a yellow card previously, was going to be substituted in the 87th minute, with the score at 0-0.
As is the norm these days, he left the field of play by a mixture of a walk and a jog, whilst applauding the away travelling fans and shaking hands with a colleague.
In the end he left the field of play and his replacement, Billy Daniels, ran on to the pitch and took up his place within the structure of the team.
All the spectators expected the game to recommence but match referee, Richard Clark, had other ideas. Bearing in mind that Thomas, on loan from Derby County, had left the field of play by now and his replacement, Daniels, was in situ, the referee decided that Thomas had taken too long and therefore raised a yellow card.
For a while total confusion ensued as the players tried to find out who the yellow card had been shown to and why. Referee Clark was by now trying to tell Daniels he must leave the field and he cannot come back on as there had been a dismissal.
By now everyone was totally confused and eventually the referee made his way to the touchline to explain to the Notts County management that Thomas had been shown a second yellow card as he took too long to leave the field, ungentlemanly conduct one assumes and therefore, he has been sent off and duly held up the red card.
Daniels had to then leave the field of play as he could not replace a man who had been sent off and if any of you have seen footage of this incident, the look of bewilderment on his face is something to behold.
As you can imagine, this did nothing for the rage that was visibly rising in the face of the Notts County manager, Shaun Derry, and he was subsequently sent to the stands by referee Clark following a discussion on the vagaries of life and what goes on in the minds of match officials during a game.
Whilst the referee is correct in that he can show a yellow card to a player if he feels he is taking the "michael" when leaving the field of play, to wait until he has actually left the field and then wait even longer before showing the red card, seems to be stretching things too far as well.
One has to feel sorry for Daniels, especially if he's on an appearance bonus, as he did not get any minutes at all whereas he was actually expecting to get at least 3 minutes plus stoppage time.
With the match ending 0-0 in the end perhaps this episode was the most exciting thing that happened in the end but I've never seen or heard of it happening in this way before.
