With the draw for the First Qualifying Round of the Emirates FA Cup being made at lunchtime today, many of you will be aware that we've been drawn at "home" to Sevenoaks Town FC on Saturday, 2nd September 2017, with a 3:00pm kick off.
This is the most probable date and time for the fixture but is only provisional at the moment until both Sevenoaks Town and Maidstone United, who are away at Hartlepool United that day for a league fixture, have been consulted and arrangements made and agreed.
Both teams will probably have liked to avoid each other, especially as we play each other on Bank Holiday Monday, 28th August 2017 at Greatness Park on their 3G pitch, as the match will be a competitive affair however, it is what it is and both clubs will be striving to win and get through to the next round.
Personally, when it comes to the FA Cup or the FA Vase, I like to play clubs from outside the SCEFL, as visiting new grounds or having clubs visit you that you've never played before or likely to in the future, is part of the excitement of these competitions. After all, someone from Step 5 is not likely to win the FA Cup therefore, whilst the prize money is nice, meeting different people is part of the "magical cup" experience, well, for me anyway.
