Croydon Hurricanes Host a Match Officials Tutor
Croydon Hurricanes make the most of the BYE weekend!
As it is every U12s players 1st season of Rugby League we decided to take a more in depth look at the rules of the game.
Thanks to a brand new initiative by the RFL Match Officials we were lucky enough to have Rick Waller come down and go through some much needed rule clarification and ref signals.
Rick also provided an interesting perspective on the game from an official’s point of view, and obviously explained that each situation was circumstantial, laid the law down in some grey areas.
“Explaining to the boys the different ref signals was a big help for some of the boys who play many different sports and sometimes get confused, it also improved their game. For example knowing the signal for a quick tap penalty was definitely helpful for some of our speedy Dummy Half’s who could take advantage of the etc.”
As mentioned all the boys are new to the sport and defiantly benefited from the session. It cleared a lot of things up for them and they also learnt some useful tactics, and a more in-depth understanding of the game which is only going to make them better players.
