Bromley teenager Kameron Pearce-Paul has been selected for the England Youth squad for 2012. Kameron, who plays for the Croydon Hurricanes, has also been on the London Broncos Scholarship programme this year.
A pupil at Ravenswood High School, who have had some great results in the Carnegie Champion Schools Competition over the last three years, he joined the Croydon Hurricanes as a mini and has continued through the club system and will play in the under-16s next season.
The 15-year-old can play a number of positions in both the forwards and backs but is probably more suited to centre or loose forward according to Steve Guan, Coaching and Education Officer at South London Rugby League. "As a department we are ecstatic for Kam and his family on his selection," said Steve.
"He has been in the system for several years now and for him to reach this honour and be regarded as one of the top 40 players for his age in the country is a fantastic effort. Kam has been been a standout for Croydon Hurricanes and always showed plenty of promise.
"His selection this year on the Broncos Scholarship programme was well deserved. He has thrived and impressed in this professional environment and, along thanks to some strong all round performances in rep matches, has gained a spot in the England Youth squad.
"The Croydon club are very proud and excited for Kam and are sure he will continue to improve and impress and bring this experience back to his team mates and the club. We tell our players and schools all the time - in Rugby League if you’re good enough you will get opportunities. Kam's going in the right direction and we are sure he will grab this opportunity with both hands."
The England Youth programme will include internationals against Wales and France next year.
