Welcome to Cults Cricket Club - Junior Section

JUNIOR CRICKET AT CULTS
Cults Juniors is committed to providing cricketing opportunities for boys and girls, regardless of ability, in a safe, friendly and fun environment. Currently coaching is provided for children from P3-P7 school years, however this will be extended to secondary school pupils as the juniors get older.

Cults Cricket Club is committed to allowing all children access to cricket. If your child has any special needs, please contact us and we will work out how they can enjoy cricket along with the other children.

Cricket coaching is provided by Gerry O’Brien and Dave Cormack who are both qualified coaches having been trained by Cricket Scotland to ECB Level 2 standard, both have completed Disclosure Scotland via Cricket Scotland and hold First Aid Certificates.

Coaching takes place RAIN or SHINE on Wednesday evenings during the summer months, from 18.00–20.00. Children should arrive and be ready to start by 17.50 each evening so we make full use of the allotted time.

Parents will be required to complete a Registration form for each of their children attending. This will provide key information to the Coaching Team such as parents contact details, medical issues / allergies, etc.

The first two sessions are free then there is a one off payment for the remainder of the season which is £15.00 per child.

The emphasis on our coaching is always on participation and enjoyment. Our aim is to see that children learn the basic skills of cricket which includes batting stance and grip, fielding, bowling, and throwing.

We generally use Kwik Cricket equipment – bats are made from high-quality moulded plastic. It is light enough for small hands yet extremely tough and hard wearing. It has been designed as an alternative to traditional equipment to allow the game to be played safely by younger players. We use softer cricket balls again with safety of children in mind.

For the older and more able children, we do provide coaching sessions using proper cricket equipment. This supports our aim of participating in local cricket hardball matches at U13 age level, with a view to eventually moving children on to the next age level thereby evolving and improving the juniors at Cults.

We will also be participating in Kwik cricket festivals during the summer months. More details about this will follow once dates are known.
