Cumnock travelled in the sunshine to Kilmarnock for an S2 festival with a full S2 team having played most of the season as an S1/2 mix team, while the S1 team, having gained some new recruits played in the S1 festival at Cumnock.
The S2’s first played Irvine and after a slowish start they really found their rhythm with a great display of passing rugby bring all the players into play they eventually ran out winners by 6 tries to 1.
After a very short break Cumnock were asked to play again against Stewartry and after righty being praised by the coaches for the first game they came out with the wrong attitude thinking they would win again but put in a lazy performance, just scraping a win by 2 tries to 1.
The last game against Garnock was going to be the decider of the group and Cumnock upped their game against a good Garnock team and but for a couple of basic errors they would have won this game which finally ended in a draw 3 tries each.
Throughout the tournament Cumnock played very well and played as a team with all the boys playing a part in the game and remained unbeaten. In the future the boys need to start all the games with the right attitude, they should play to win and not expect to win. However, on the whole the coaches were well impressed by the boys on the day, who all stepped up and some of the rugby on display was great to watch.
