Cumnock overwhelm opposition, Cumnock 28 - 3 Greenock
Cumnock's s1/s2 squad stepped onto a rain soaked Broomfield pitch on Sunday and played some excellent rugby against Greenock Wanderers.
The home side with a team of 18 players allowing only three substitutes were in for a hard tiring game compared to Greenock's squad of 38 players.
Cumnock opted for the kick off and immediately took control of the game closing down space as soon as the ball met opposition hands. Under pressure by Cumnock's defence Greenock were soon in a ruck situation, ball won back by Cumnock's forwards the ball was passed out to Tyler Wallace who charged through to score the first try of the day.
Cumnock's ability to win each breakdown, attack spaces and use of support players resulted in try number two ran in by kieran vance.
Defensive play was outstanding as the home team line moved as one. Nearly all tackles hit their mark denying Greenock any momentum and keeping the pressure on the opposition.
More tries were to come as Logan Naismith put another ball down over the line followed by a second try from Tyler Wallace.
In the second half Cumnock continued to control play, Mikey Casey running in the first try of the half after a snaking run through the defence. Callum Bell was next on the score sheet taking the ball to the corner then touching down under the posts. Zack Donald followed spotting a gap to run through to score at the posts. John Watt standing in at scrum half made a massive run to add the last home try of the match.
Greenock put in a huge effort in the final minutes with a driving maul which resulted in the only opposition score of the match. Cumnock managed four conversion kicks to add to their points ending in a 28 - 3 win.
Man of the match went to John Watt.
