Four lucky young rugby players from Cumnock rugby Club have been invited to performance training in France by the Glasgow Thistles Sports Club.

The players all 15 or 16, will fly off to the south of France in July for a 14 day high performance training camp. During the camp they will receive top class coaching in personal and team skills as well as strength and conditioning. District coaches and Scottish internationals will lead sessions and there will also be guest sessions from pro level French coaches.

The players will follow many other players from Cumnock and other west coast rugby clubs who have benefitted from these camps over the last 10 years. Cumnock’s 2 internationals, Mark Bennett, Scotland and Craig Bachurzweski, Poland, were both coached on these camps and here’s hoping the current players follow in their footsteps.

The players’ coach, Stewart Birrell, commented, “ This is a tremendous opportunity for these boys. They will be exposed to a professional coaching regime which will benefit them immediately as well as giving them training habits that will last through their career. The boys going are all of a very good standard and this will be a great reward for all their hard work over the years.
