RUGBY UNION - WHATS IT ALL ABOUT?
Some would say its a game, others might say its a way of life or to the enthusiastic its life or death, but to coin a phrase from a well worn round ball expert..... "Its much more important than that!"
Rugby is a simple game really, if you can do one of three things (Run, Pass and Tackle) you can play the game, if you can do two you become a decent player, all three and the worlds your oyster !
So why do we play this magnificent game of ours?
Having wandered the rugby world for a few years now I'd like to think I have gained a few credentials when considering what is essentially the rugby players "meaning of life" and I think the answer is simple.
Its the embodiment of community spirit - why love thy neighbour when you can love your team mate ?
Rugby brings together people from all walks of life, from all manner of diverse ethnic and social backgrounds and from the four corners of the globe within the simplest and most basic of requirements. "Do your best and your best will do"
We at Dagenham Rugby Club firmly believe that our small community embodies everything rugby is about. We have a flourishing youth section (in what is a predominantly round ball supporting area AND one of the most challenging Boroughs in London). We have a senior section that has as committed a playing squad as you'll find anywhere and a committee that is doing everything to ensure we continue to offer our members a first class facility to enjoy the worlds greatest game.
In the past 12 months alone we have installed new kitchens, extended the bar/club house and installed a new gymnasium for our playing staff this pays testimony to our long term vision for our club.
So in answer to the opening question - Rugby Union is all about YOU and YOUR Club ! So if its YOUR Club come and Support it if its not come along and MAKE IT YOUR CLUB - because we'd love to have you !
