Thunder first XI regulars Steven Gray (Oakleigh), Archie Tomic and Ben Harrison (both Hume) have left the club but, after re-signing the rest of his players, Taylor is confident the experience in the group will keep them among the best sides.
"We were fairly mindful that, while we didn't want to lose players, we were not getting into bidding wars," Taylor said.
"The money going around is farcical. Dandenong prides itself on every player getting paid up to date - you can't say that about three-quarters of clubs. I've been speaking to boys at the moment who are still owed money.
"The grass is always greener at other sides but we've also had approaches for three or four former players who left and want to come back because promises weren't kept. We have passionate supporters and that's why lots of players want to come here."
The VPL released its 2012 fixture last week, with the Thunder facing a first-up clash at a home against newly promoted local rival Southern Stars, an encounter Taylor said loomed as a real danger game.
"When clubs come up they are very motivated and I know their coach, Dean Hennessy, is very organised and will have them pumped up. We have to be very mindful that we can't underestimate them, they will be very competitive."
Taylor also questioned why the VPL season had been moved back to the end of March, meaning it will start at the same time as the lower leagues. "I think it has lost some clout there because it's a long time until the start of the season."
Taylor said it was unlikely the Thunder would get to play on George Andrews Reserve until the first VPL game due to ongoing turf replanting.
