About Us...

The origins of the club stretch back to 1946 when the Old Boys of Darlington Queen Elizabeth Grammar School began to play regular games. The club was increasingly successful over the years and in 1967 became an open club. The present club house came into use in 1970 and has served the club well until recently unfortunately the demands of playing at an ever more senior level and the substantial development of junior and mini rugby within the club has meant that the need for more expansive and better facilities, in terms of both playing fields and clubhouse, has now become a necessity, we are therefore in the process of relocating to a new facility on the impressive new West Park Development area in the imminent future.

Additionally the Darlington Mowden Park Sharks ladies team put down roots at the club in 2006, and since moving to the club have gone from strength to strength by gaining promotion into the RFUW Premier division in 2009 and finishing a very creditable third in that elite division in their first season, we look forward to watching Sharks fixtures against Wasps, Saracens, and Bath in the forthcoming 2010 / 2011 season.

Over the last few years the club has seen substantial growth, and has steadily progressed from North East division two through the divisions to National League Three North which is the division we are currently playing in and the club continues to grow in strength at junior level and now via its 19 teams of all genders and ages it provides the means by which hundreds of youngsters, can realise their sporting and social aspirations in the context of a safe well organised coaching, education, and supportive club environment.

Because the task of maintaining a thriving rugby club which is a real asset to the community is monumental, (although a great many people voluntarily work tirelessly to keep the club running) the basic costs of providing so much for so many is enormous and growing.

We are therefore inviting partners who are interested in supporting the club and its efforts to provide a facility the community can be proud of which truly provides a sport for all.

Helping us help you...

Here at Darlington Mowden Park we believe that it is possible to sustain a high level of rugby for our senior teams whilst at the same time providing outstanding opportunities for young people to develop and enjoy their sport. We are well placed in the North of England to support national league sides, being one of the leading clubs in the region. Now that our development plans are beginning to "get under way" we are searching for partners who are willing to support us whilst we go through the club redevelopment route and who wish to be a part of the Darlington Mowden Park future which is very exciting indeed.

The potential is there for businesses to achieve significant exposure and recognition as a result of our teams playing clubs across the length and breadth of the country.

We recognise the need to develop and increase the level of support required to sustain our position and our vision for the future. As such we are committed to significantly increasing the sponsorship and commercial support for the club. Sponsorship over the past few years has helped us greatly to improve our playing levels and youth development. However costs continue to rise inexorably and in order to sustain what we are doing and to help us to develop the club it is important that we are able to continue to maintain existing sponsors and attract new ones.

This is a critical time for the club and for the community which it helps to support. We hope to move to our new premises in the not too distant future and this will undoubtedly provide better resources for us but also better opportunities for organisations that are willing and able to become partners in our developing enterprise.

We are always keen to discuss opportunities. Whether it be as main sponsors, team sponsors, player sponsor, or whether you would like to advertise in our programme, have a pitch side board, or sponsor the match ball - Contact Mike Keeligan on 01325 460112 or mobile 07738 557096.
