BURNAGE PREVIEW

The visitors to Yiewsley Drive are Burnage RFC, who travel from their Varley Park HQ.

Burnage RFC are new to National League Three (North) this season, having gained promotion by beating Percy Park RFC in a play off.

After an encouraging start to their league programme, they have struggled to find consistency and are currently precariously placed on 29 points, just above the relegation zone.

Having said that, as their five wins show - Beverley (A), Waterloo (H & A), Morley (H) and Birkenhead Park (H) on their day they can deliver the goods.

In the corresponding away fixture, earlier in the season, we managed to escape from the artificial surface at Varley Park, with a 16 - 34 win under our belts. The game had been close up until half time, when we managed to get our noses in front and kick on.

Additionally, in games where our visitors came second, they have been some close margins and therefore they are certainly more than capable of competing at this level and are not to be taken lightly.

After a thoroughly convincing win two weeks ago at Birkenhead Park (5 – 42), it was encouraging from a squad perspective that the players who replaced our injured contingent, performed more than admirably.

Fijian brother, Army player, great friend and flying winger Ben SERU plays his last game for the club on Saturday, as he transfers ‘South of the Border’.

Ben has been associated with the club for many years and although sad to see him leave, we wish him and his family, all the very best in pastures new.
