The word Awesome is the only way I can describe how the Ladies performed on Sunday, after 2 narrow defeats on the bounce the ladies were more determined than ever to put their recent dip behind them and look to finish the season on a high.
The game started in the best way possible with a try from Lindsay Evans after 5mins with excellent forward work driving Darlington over for their first score. It wasn’t too much longer until the second with Rebecca Snook scoring after 15mins, Morpeth lost their no10 in the build up and was taken off for treatment and were left temporarily down to 14, Darlington took the number advantage and scored again 6mins later with Tamsin Scales driving through to score on 21mins. Morpeth’s no10 returned to the field on 30mins and kept Darlington out for the remainder of the half.
The second half started brightly with Lindsay Evans scoring her second after 42mins, and continued in much the same fashion as the first with Ding Bell scoring after 55mins followed by Amy Griffiths on 60mins, Steph Phillip then scored from the restart on 62mins and Jess Cheesman completed the scoring on 75mins with Pippa Bell getting the only conversion of the game the finish the scoring at 42-0.
Choosing a player of the match was difficult, so the coaches left it up to the captain who chose the entire pack for their dominance during the game and Madeline Bradley for her brilliant display as no10.
The final game of the season is away to Sheffield in 2 weeks time and a similar performance would be a great finally to a brilliant season.
