After a well deserved break and some half time refreshments of cakes and biscuits (every kid’s favourite snack!!) a changed TSC line up were ready for the second game of the day.
remained in goal with Louis Moran and Daniel Le-Roi Smith making up the defence, George Barber
went left wing, Ryan Raine right wing, Matthew Kent
midfield and Jack Hurworth
headed up the attack.
As with the first game TSC started strongly playing some lovely passing football. An early move saw Daniel Le-Roi Smith play and early ball to Matthew Kent
who evaded a couple of challenges before passing the ball to Jack Hurworth
. Jack then went on a brilliant run from the half way line skipping past three Greatham players before unleashing a fierce shot which was brilliantly saved by the Greatham keeper.
Greatham pushed forward themselves but Louis Moran and Daniel Le-Roi Smith worked well together to close down the Greatham attackers before passing the ball between themselves to clear the danger.
TSC continued to press the Greatham defence with Ryan Raine working tirelessly on the right wing to win possession and pass the ball to either Matthew Kent
or Jack Hurworth
. Greatham were doing a good job in defence making some timely tackles at crucial times to stop Matthew Kent
and Jack Hurworth
getting a clear shot at goal.
Greatham kept on playing some good passing football but George Barber
showed great determination to win the ball deep in his own half breaking up the Greatham attack before passing the ball forward to Matthew Kent
. Matthew showed brilliant technique as he did a cruyff turn to wrong foot his marker then played the down back to George Barber
. George then made a lovely run toward the Greatham goal and took a shot from the edge of the box forcing another fine save from the Greatham keeper.
Although TSC were having the bulk of possession Greatham were pressing forward whenever possible and Louis Moran had to keep his position well to intercept passed between Greatham players before clearing the danger.
As then end of the first half approached Nathan Lamb
played an early ball to Daniel Le Roi-Smith who passed instantly to Matthew Kent
. Matthew dodged a couple of challenges then played the ball out to Ryan Raine, Ryan tried to go past his marker but lost the ball briefly before winning it back through sheer determination. Ryan then played the ball back into the middle of the pitch to Jack Hurworth
who took a lovely touch to control the ball before shooting into the bottom right corner of the goal giving the Greatham keeper no chance. TSC 1 – 0 Greatham.
Greatham had just enough time to kick off before the half time whistle sounded with TSC having a narrow advantage.
Further changes were made in the second half with both teams now having eight players each. Lewis Johnson
, Luke Chrystal
, Oscar Taylor
and Archie Kidd replaced Jack Hurworth
, Nathan Lamb
and Daniel Le-Roi Smith. Louis Moran went between the sticks with George Barber
and Ryan Raine making up the defence. This was more of an attacking formation for the second half.
TSC started the second half at a fast pace and were instantly on the attack. Archie Kidd held the ball up well in midfield before releasing it to Matthew Kent
, Matthew saw Lewis Johnson
lose his marker and make a run towards the Greatham box. Matthew played a great ball to Lewis who took a first time shot at goal and put the ball straight through the goal keeper’s legs. TSC 2 – 0 Greatham.
Greatham went straight on the attack from the restart but George Barber
tackled well to win possession back for TSC. George passed the ball forward to Archie Kidd who in turn passed to Luke Chrystal
, Luke did a Maradonna to beat his marker before passing the ball to Oscar Taylor
. Oscar took a shot which was well saved by the Greatham keeper, Greatham tried to clear the ball but it fell to Lewis Johnson
who shot from 6 yards out to make it TSC 3 – 0 Greatham
Greatham to their credit kept their heads and a great passing move from the kick off saw them beat the TSC defence before the Greatham attacker placed an unstoppable shot into the far right corner of the TSC goal giving Louis Moran absolutely no chance. TSC 3 – 1 Greatham.
This just seemed to make TSC more determined and determined play from Ryan Raine saw him get the ball from a Greatham attacker then pass it to Archie Kidd. Archie played a great ball to Matthew Kent
who’s first time shot forced another great save from the Greatham keeper.
Another quick change sees Archie Kidd make way for Sam Graham
. This had an instant impact on the game, Greatham tried to clear their lines but Luke Chrystal
tacked the Greatham defender to win the ball. Luke then showed good composure to do a step over to beat the next challenge, Luke could have gone for goal but saw that Sam Graham
was in a better position so played the ball square to Sam who placed the ball perfectly into the left of the goal. TSC 4 – 1 Greatham.
TSC were now dominating the game and a shot from Matthew Kent
was well saved by the keeper to give TSC a corner. TSC took a short corner with Sam Graham
and Lewis Johnson
playing a lovely 1 – 2 which saw Lewis Johnson
shoot just wide.
Greatham tried to press forward but George Barber
and Ryan Raine were determined not to concede another goal as they battled hard for every ball.
A good goal kick from Louis Moran found Matthew Kent
who won a throw in, Luke Chrystal
took the throw picking out Sam Graham
who had made an excellent run. Sam looked up and took a powerful shot which gave the Greatham keeper no chance. TSC 5 – 1 Greatham.
From the restart TSC pressed Greatham and George Barber
won the ball for TSC, George passed to Lewis Johnson
who beat his marker before passing to Oscar Taylor
. Oscar held the ball well before finding Luke Chrystal
with a good pass. Luke made a powerful run down the wing beating two Greatham defenders. Again Luke had the opportunity to go for goal but unselfishly played the ball central to Sam Graham
who made no mistake with the finish making it TSC 6 – 1 Greatham.
The final few minutes were dominated by TSC and it would have been 7 – 1 were it not for a treble save from the Greatham Keeper who bravely saved from Oscar Taylor
then Luke Chrystal
the Matthew Kent
(taking two shots right in the face… very brave).. outstanding.
The final whistle sounded with TSC deservedly winning their second game of the day
Another all round really good team performance saw you deservedly win the second game. Again the passing, teamwork and all round play was really good to see. Keep it up
Man of the Match – this was really tricky as there were a lot of really good performances in this game. However for showing good technique, control and in particular unselfish play by passing the ball when you could have just gone for goal yourself I’m giving this to Luke Chrystal
you realised that Sam was in a better position to score and passed. Well done
