Club History

The Dartford FC Junior Section was originally formed in 1990 as St Vincent Vikings FC.

The Junior Section is completely self funding & all those involved are volunteers, including managers & coaches.

In the early days, the younger teams played in the Gravesend Primary League. Teams at under 11's & played in the Bexley & District Junior Football League.

From the start of the 2002/03 season the under 7's team for that season were the 1st of our teams to participate in the SELKENT League. Details of fixtures/results/tables are on http://www.selkent.org.uk/

In May 2003 an important landmark was reached when to the delight of all those involved, the club affiliated to Dartford Football Club.

In order to retain a link to its roots, initially the Junior Section played under the name of Dartford Vikings. However, it became clear that the name was blurring the link with Dartford FC. Therefore, the section started to play under the Dartford FC name from the start of the 2006/7 season

At the time, the deal moved Dartford Football Club a step closer to gaining FA Charter Standard status. This was crucial for the club to gain the backing to enable its return to the Borough of Dartford.

Dartford Football Club now runs a thriving & successful Junior Section with teams from under 7's through to under 17's.

Many of you are no doubt aware that the club has achieved the prestigious FA Charter Standard status at one of the highest levels, that of a Development Club.

All our Junior Team Managers & Coaches are CRB checked. Most are qualified to a minimum of FA Level 1 & some to FA Level 2. Each team has at least 1 Coach and/or Manager assigned to them that has attended the FA Safeguarding Children & 1st Aid Workshops

These are exciting times for the section.
