  • Jamie George has extended his contract with Saracens.

Mark McCall, Director of Rugby, said: “Jamie knows how much he is valued at this club. He’s a hugely talented young hooker and a natural leader with massive potential in the game, and we are delighted he has chosen to keep working hard to fulfil that potential at Saracens.”

Jamie George said: “I have always been a Saracen, and I hope I always will be a Saracen.”
  • The match between Saracens and Nadroga Stallions, the champion club of Fiji, scheduled to be played in the United Arab Emirates on Friday March 9th has been cancelled following a decision by organisers Al Ain Amblers RFC.

The Aviva Premiership champions will still travel to Abu Dhabi on March 6th, attending a series of rugby and corporate events before returning home on March 10th.

Mark McCall, Director of Rugby, said: “It’s disappointing that the match will not take place, but we’re very much looking forward to visiting this special part of the world and to having a positive impact on the UAE rugby community.”
  • Peter Stringer will take up a short term loan with Newcastle Falcons once his current loan arrangement with Saracens expires in early March.

The Irish international scrumhalf has been on loan from Munster since December providing cover to the Premiership champions following serious injuries to Neil de Kock and Richard Wigglesworth.

Mark McCall, Saracens Director of Rugby, said: "Peter has been a brilliant addition to the squad, on and off the field, and we are sorry his three-month loan spell will come to an end after our match against Northampton on March 4th."

Stringer will be available for the Falcons’ game against Harlequins on March 12th and will remain with the North-East club until the end of the season.
  • Matt Stevens has extended his contract with Saracens.

Mark McCall, Director of Rugby, said: “Matt is widely recognised as a world class player, performing week in week out at the very highest level. We are fortunate to have a player of such quality within our squad, and we are very pleased he has agreed to extend his contract.”

Matt Stevens said: “It was an incredibly easy decision. I could not imagine playing anywhere else.”
  • Schalk Brits has extended his contract with Saracens.

Mark McCall, Director of Rugby, said: “Schalk has been rightly recognised as one of the stars of the Premiership, and I don’t believe there is a club in Europe that would not like to have such a gifted and committed player in their squad. We are obviously delighted he has committed his future to Saracens.”

Brits said: “There really is something very special happening at Saracens, and I have never been happier in my entire career.”

In the forwards, No.8 Ernst Joubert returns from injury to captain the side with second row Hugh Vyvyan also starting the match and Will Fraser coming into the back row.

In the backs, Michael Tagicakibau takes up a spot on the wing while centre Joel Tomkins will make his first start in the Aviva Premiership.

Reacting to the news, Saracens chairman Nigel Wray said:

“We are obviously delighted with the decision from the Mayor’s office, which puts us a significant step closer to reviving Barnet Copthall Stadium and creating a vibrant sports hub for the local community.
