Match Report Trail

Dartmouth’s Rugby road show was up and running last weekend with some much needed match practice. It was a three way practice session with, Dartmouth, New Cross and Paignton. All three teams playing each other twice. 20 minutes each game, in a fiercely competitive practice session. Paignton two Leagues above Dartmouth and New Cross One division above. It was a good run out for some of the Dartmouth players. Martin Sharam, finding his position as tight head prop now he’s put a... few pounds on during the Summer BBQ break !!!. Dave Cudd, putting his usual methodical performance along with, stalwart Nick Shillabeer. The unstoppable Karl Caunter putting his body through breaking point. Adam Sharam (The Wall) making some bone crunching tackles. The ever green Andy Williams and Dave Bradley (The Self Harmer), Brads, rucking out the Dartmouth and opposition players to get to the ball. A welcome return of players like Iain (want a fight) Watton, Glen (The Tank) Allinson. Fred (Split Pin) Prettyjohns.

It was nice to see the Bridgwood brothers playing on the same piece of turf again, albeit playing for different teams. John (Man Mountain) Dingle put his usual; take me if you can performance at number eight. Scott Silsbury hanging on to the opposition players like a lion trying to bring down a wielder beast. Scott, filling in at scrum half and full back to show his versatility as a utility back. Rory Shilliabeer, already proving to be better than his dad, Malcolm and his brother Nick. Has grown in confidence and will be an asset to Dartmouth again this season. With his cheeky little runs and argumentative moments with players and Refs alike and some how getting away with it. Vice DRFC Chairman, Dave (Gibbo) Gibbson giving his two peneth worth and coming off virtually unscathed. Dartmouth still has new players coming into the side which is promising, Dave Lawrence, Josh Duberey, Vince May and although not new one of our up and coming players Jamie Kerney. Dartmouth still has players like Jerry Whiltshire, Reg Varney, Simon Entwistle, Matt Putt. All of these players who have the experience to take on the Plymouth teams and local derby’s which will help bring the youth through.

Dartmouth’s next game is against Plymouth Argaum, at home, on Saturday 6th of September 2014. Your support will be valued. What else would you be doing at 14.30 on a Saturday afternoon ????
Hopefully the brambles will be cut back by Saturday the 6th which will give the local supporters more room and give some much needed vocal support.
