Dartmouth RFC 0 South Molton RFC 30
South Molton prove too good for Dartmouth
Dartmouth v South Molton 10-02-18
Tribute Devon 1
Dartmouth RFC 0 – 30 South Molton RFC
This was the third meeting between these two sides this season with South Molton winning
the previous two matches so Dartmouth were keen to put on a performance in their last home
league match of the season.
Constant rain before kick-off meant conditions were going to be challenging for both teams.
Dartmouth won the toss and opted to play towards the Stoke Fleming end and kicked the
match off. The first half was quite even in terms of possession and it was just two penalties
that separated the teams at half time in favour of the visitors. Dartmouth had a number of
injuries during the first half with Will Lockerbie being forced to retire from the match and
Jake Bridgwood needing treatment to a nasty gash above his eye.
Dartmouth 0-6 down never really got into the match in the second half and South Molton
seemed to adapt to the conditions better and ran in 4 tries in 25 second half minutes to take
the score to 0-30. Full credit to South Molton who showed why they are top of the league and
look certain to get promoted to the Devon and Cornwall League next season. For Dartmouth
it just leaves three away games left to try and finish as high as they can in the league.
Dartmouth now travel to Western Mill in Plymouth to take on Old Technicians on the 17th
February with a 14.30 KO.
