Chris Mills-RIP

Chris Mills-RIP image

The club is saddened and shocked by the news that long term servant & Vice Youth Chair of Datchworth RFC, Chris Mills, passed away on Weds 14th Dec.

The club was informed yesterday of the devastating news that Chris Mills died suddenly yesterday afternoon, at the young age of 51.

Although the cause of death is not yet finally established, it appears to have been a heart attack. Chris loved Datchworth RFC. He and I coached the mini and junior squad of which his oldest son Alex was a member, for 10 years. His second son Richard is a member of the U/17s squad; and Chris was also Deputy Head of the Youth Section at Datchworth RFC. Apart from all that, he was one of my closest friends. I know that he will be sorely missed.

Meanwhile, I’m sure that our thoughts and prayers are with Gill, Alex, Clare, Richard and Edward. Chris was a loving husband and a role model for any parent.

Youth Chairman

I am not a member of Datchworth RFC although I helped coach my son's team some five years ago which included Richard. I just wanted to express in some way the sadness I feel after hearing this news. Chris was one of the good guys who always had a smile and something to say. He loved his family and could never stop talking about his kids and all they achieved. You will be missed buddy and like the comments above, our thoughts are with Gill, Clare, Alex, Richard and Edward. x

Not just a Datchworth man, a rugby man. The whole rugby community in Herts will miss Chris and his enthusiasm for the game and his commitment to the development of young players. With condolences from all at Hertford RFC. Vince Chair of Youth at HRFC.

This is such sad news! Chris was a solid genuine rugby man who was a fantastic role model for our game and club. His contribution to Datch rugby and beyond was immence, He was one of the solid foundation blocks on which Datch. RFC has been built, things will not be the same without him. But we know we will cotinue to grow in strength in his honour. With sincere condolences to Clare and Chris's family.
