Section Appoint New Head Coach Martin Gallagher

"Rugby force weekend was the most work I've ever done in my life. I'm knackered".
- Dan Maguire

The club are delighted to announce the recent appointment of Martin Gallagher as Head Coach. Martin comes with an impressive CV & wealth of quality coaching experience. Most recently Martin was ‘Head of Domestic Rugby’ at Connnacht in Ireland and before that ‘National Director of Rugby’ at Canada Rugby. Previous positions have also included stints as ‘Head of Women’s Rugby’ for the USA, London Irish Academy Coach and working as a ‘Rugby Development Officer’ for the RFU.

The club would also like to take this opportunity to thank former Head Coach Ian Reid for doing a sterling job over the past five years. Ian has recently stepped down after having his first child, though will remain in a Director of Rugby position which will be less time intensive. He’s overseen the 1st team through a massive transition and improved their league standing each year. Also within the past five years both the second & third team have seen numerous promotions and he leaves the senior section in a much stronger position than when he found it.

First team Captain will be Nick Gudgin after previous captain Tom Wood steps down after two very successful years in which he led the club tremendously both on & off the pitch. Gudgin will be ably assisted by vice captain Sam Brunton & first team manager Will Nash. Richard Bunting is taking over from Steve Gregory as second team captain and will be assisted by Jamie Pumba Smith as vice captain. Gregory as captain oversaw one promotion and the second team then cement their place in their new league last season. Callum Baxter will be captaining the third team so the legendary Steve Corley can take a well-earned break.

Also a big shout to everyone that got involved with rugby force weekend – some great work was done around the club.

Pre-season will start for the senior section (all three teams) on July 12th, see you there!
