3rd XV - Report
|Daventry III||19||vs||5||Northampton BBOB III|
Impressive Blacks see off BBOB's
A superb first half rear guard effort laid the platform for Daventry to score three second half tries, as they saw off BBOBs IIIs.
The second half was a complete role reversal, the big Daventry front row five got on top with Pete Clarke and Ade Welsh having fine games, fly half Julian Bush started pulling the strings and Paine and Welch continued to look a threat.
Daventry got the first score off the game when Paine finished off a good passage of play involving Bush, Welch and Glen Hollely. Greg Sawyer added the conversion to put the Blacks 7-0 up. Paine then doubled the score with a fine individual effort with Sawyer adding the simple conversion.
BBOB’s refused to give up and got a deserved score following some fantastic play from the scrumhalf who steam rolled two Daventry defenders before the big number eight crossed in the corner to make the score 14-5.
Daventry had the last say though with their now infamous move working again as Hollely linked with big prop Simon Dommett who stormed over from the twenty two.
This was a fine win for Daventry against very strong BBOBs side and shows just how far the team have come over the past 3 months. This was a real team effort especially in the first half when the blacks spent most of it defending in their own half. Man of the Match went to Russell Welch.
