Daventry 2 Brackley Town 0

Daventry Town returned to pre-season action with a promising 2-0 victory over Conference South Club Brackley Town, goals from new striker Mitchell Piggon and midfielder Ryan Howell giving Daventry supporters renewed optimism for next season.

Daventry Town Manager Darran Foster was pleased with the performance, but knows these games are about building fitness and stamina.
`A very promising start to the pre-season, we showed some good fitness levels for around seventy minutes until we tired, but it was a good competitive workout for the lads.
Nathan Haines and Kyle Cartwright looked very strong as did Josh Cole in his first appearance for the club.
Mitchell Piggon scored a wonderful goal and Ryan Howell scored the second after the Brackley keeper had blocked Berwick's effort. Dior Angus showed some very pleasing signs and once he is match fit, I am sure he will be a real threat to many teams in this league.
`Pre - season is all about game time and improving fitness levels, results do not matter too much!
We must be patient with the new look squad whilst they are bedding in and getting used to each other’s style of play .
`I am pleased to announce that we have re-signed Tommy Berwick for another season and James Jepson has joined us from Kettering Town, to almost complete our rebuilding programme.
These two players complement what is beginning to look like a very strong squad of players.

`Our aim is to gain promotion this season, but I will not allow my players to get carried away by a good run of results!
By January we will know where we stand and what we shall need to do.
There will never again be talk of promotion or winning titles in my dressing room, until the season closes!
`This Saturday, we welcome Coalville to Communications Park who will give us another very good workout, as they boast a number of quality players.
We will need to work hard and use the match for the players to improve their stamina and gain a greater relationship and understanding of each other’s play.

Former Daventry town player Nat Liburd has joined Ross Oulton at Kettering Town, Ashley Robinson has gone to Sutton Coldfield Town and Marcel Simpson has signed for his old club Rugby Town.
