I must admit I am gobsmacked to read about the withdrawal of the crest after all this time.
Rather than get rid of the shirts, just sow a patch over the crest for the remainder of the season.
I spose you have got to get rid of it on any stationery (if used) and also from the front of the matchday programme,(oneway of keeping the printing costs down!),as well as this website.
Perhaps a competition could be held for ideas for the design of a new crest(providing it meets Council regulations!!) with a prize or having your name immortalised on the badge?
Just seems all too rather petty in my opinion.
Hope it doesnt put the players off tomorrows game
Does this mean I have to change my avatar,as I'm not authorised to show it!!?

Hi Paul,
Check out the article on the BBC website.http://www.bbc.co.uk/news/uk-england-kent-21475707 We actually still can use the shirts that we already have, we just can't print anything new with the current crest. Never say die, it's not over til it's over.
Cheers

Having noticed the costs involved, could you not take them out of the money destined for the Clubhouse/Fire Fund,or is that protected and to be used solely for the restoration of the above?
Dont know how else the club can raise that sort of money, except by rattling the tins again!?

I have just read the barely believable story that some know–all (meaning know nothing of importance), small minded busy body has complained about the use of the coat of arms.

I hope this interfering miscreant will be named and maybe invoiced for any costs involved. But I hope the club will not panic into a knee jerk reaction which is not needed. Who is threatening what? Oh, actually no one appears to be threatening anything. Maybe some twisted person with a massive feeling of self importance has said the coat of arms is no longer relevant. That's it, they haven't sent a demand or a threat to sue,

I would like to point out that a spokesperson for The College of Arms said, “nothing could be done” – so do nothing - doing nothing is often the best piece of action to take!

There is no pecuniary loss or claim by anyone else and the club is not using “Someone else’s coat of arms” as the College has said it is no longer a relevant to anyone.

And no-one can have a claim to the coat of arms being used in Deal or at the FC so just call it a LOGO and leave it at that.

Looking at what is happening from over here in Spain I find it unbelievable. Who on earth thought it was necessary to bring this up.

Deal is Deal whether it's Deal Borough or Deal Town so I cannot see why there is a need to go to the expense of changing. I hope reason comes to bear and that sense will prevail. I like the crest it should stay as it is.

And I thought our government in the States was dysfunctional. Stay the course, boys. No changes to a time-honored badge for which no one can come forward and claim they are being harmed.
