Erith & Belvedere came back from 0-2 down to win 5-2 at home to Deal Town. Jacob Dainton and Danny Smith set Deal up with a 2-0 lead before Orlando Smith pulled one back from the penalty spot for a half time 2-1 scoreline. George Benner levelled the scores 4 minutes into the second half then Drew Crush weighed in with a hat-trick, the third from the spot, to give the Deres a 5 point lead at the top.

Strange game. We certainly weren't 3 goals worse and for 55 minutes were the better side. E&B are made up of 5 giants and 5 tiny players and from set pieces they had 5 players taller than our tallest and scored from 3 set pieces. Their other 2 goals were penalties - the first given for a foul on the exact spot we had a player fouled in the second half - the referee (another plum - that's about 4 in the last 5 games) gave a pen for them and only a free kick for us. Their 2nd pen followed a foul on Sid in the area and his clearance hit Shane suter on the arm 2 feet away. Two comments I will make - E&B might as well play on concrete for all the time they play the ball on the ground. They hit it high and early - not pretty stuff. The second is the behaviour of the E&B management - baiting opposition players and the referee constantly does their club no favours and brings a big club into disrepute. Perhaps they think that because they have a couple of football league games on their cv's gives them that right.
Oh and by the way, our two goals were fantastic, both followed flowing moves on the deck. Jacob dainton's was a great finish and Danny smith scored a free kick from the top draw almost worth the extortionate £8 entry fee alone. I'd rather see us play like we did, scoring really good goals with our young, local team than rely on corners, throw ins and free kicks chucked into the near post. Once our young team develops a bit more, a bit more street smart, watch us go. Exciting times ahead
Noticed their attitude at the home game-came all over BBB not only on the pitch but off it as well.
If you get weak referees, teams will play on them(I seem to remember a certain team not far from S/Bourne used to be quite good at that!) and this will only add to the other teams frustrations.
Worrying that we have lost the last 4 league games-that long run with 1 defeat in 12 seems to be a long time ago now.
Form seems to be dipping, hope that it comes back next week away to Holmesdale.
Have we got our minds on the cup semis affecting league form?
Our form I think is ok. We played really well yesterday. The result went against us, yes but we are a young side and building for the future. We have played the top sides. A good run against those around us will see us climb the table. If we play as well next week, we will win comfortably. And I really hope E&B dont win the league. They are billy big balls and think they are better than they are. Love to see to see that smirk wiped off their face
