Deal welcomed old adversaries Ramsgate to the Charles Ground last night and earned a very welcome draw that should boost confidence going into the final games of the season.
Ramsgate were without 4 or 5 regulars as were Deal but despite this, both clubs fielded very strong line ups and it was Deal who started brighter scoring through Josh Pain (brother of first team regular Sam) who headed in a Danny Smith corner. Deal extended their lead to make it 2-0 at the break through a Niall Jackson screamer.
Ramsgate boss Jim Ward must have given the Ryman leaguers a half time roasting as they came out much more determined in the second period and got a goal back through another long distance effort, this time from skipper Liam Quinn. They equalised through a Warren Schulz penalty and the game finished as a hard earned draw which was a fair result on the night.
Several of the first team fringe players stated a case for inclusion on Saturday away at VCD and the result and more importantly the performance will have given Deal's fragile confidence a welcome boost.
Solid Deal performances on the night from skipper Sid Moore, Niall Jackson, Matt Adams, both Pain brothers and Harry Collins although in fairness all the Deal squad did well against higher league and in many cases, more experienced opponents.
All at Deal Town would like to thank the Ramsgate team and their management for a very enjoyable evening's football.
