Della disappointed with away draw

DELLA SALLE RUFC MATCH REPORT

Saturday 13th Sept

De La Salle had the long trek to Cumbria for there second league match of the season and came away with a draw, in fact you have to go back to the 2012-2013 season to find the last time Della have been beaten in a league fixture. This was one match that the away team should really have won having out scored there hosts 4 tries to 2. With Aspatria gaining a draw with a last gasp penalty.

Della were in control for much of the match with there robust defence and sharp attack proving troublesome for the home team, tries from Kieron Cooper. Jimmy Evans Chris petrou and Dewalt Greyling put De La Salle in a commanding lead only for them to let the home team claw there way back into contention with some ill discipline and taking bad options. Captain Paul Berry led his troops manfully and was ably assisted by Mcphearson Halsall and McCormick.

The game was played in the right spirit and Credit must go to the home team who capitalised on De La Salle’s mistakes late on with there never say die attitude. We must thank our hosts for there hospitality and look forward to them visiting us in the return fixture.

Della’s second string recorded there first victory of the season with a 3-0 home win over Bolton. Brad White kicking the all important penalty. Stand out performances were from Connor, Sloane and Lee Halsall, with the evergreen Wheeler leading an experienced pack containing Richardson and Mitchell,

The blend of youth and experience was good to see and to nil a strong Bolton side shows the level of commitment the coaching staff have been asking for.
