Denbigh Town v Cambrian & Clydach Vale BGC. Managers'views

Denbigh Town v Cambrian and Clydach Vale BGC Saturday 8 December 2.30pm

This Welsh Cup tie against our opponents from South Wales is a very good test for our young management duo Matty Jones and Dewi LLion. After winning our last three games the mood in the Denbigh camp is good but the team does have a few problems as Matty Jones explains -

"As a management team and group of players we are very excited to have reached this stage of what is a very prestigious competition within Welsh football and a competition that consistently captures the interests of Welsh football fans. Our aim this season has been to go as far as we can in each of the cup competitions we have entered.

Cambrian and Clydach come here boasting impressive cup form this term having knocked out a number of Welsh Premier League opponents in the WPL Cup, including the incredibly impressive scalp of TNS in the semi-finals of that competition. We feel that this makes Cambrian slight favourites in this tie but this group of players have already proved this season that being underdogs is not a problem for us.

We come into this game in some reasonably good form having won four of the last five in all competitions and the mood and spirit within the group remains incredibly high. So far this season the players have shown undoubted commitment and their attitudes have ensured a truly pleasurable working environment for the both of us. We do however go into this game missing our captain Tony Davies and energetic midfielder Sam Downey through suspension, both of which have played pretty much every minute this season. Dan Lloyd is cup tied but we welcome back Lewis Sirrell to the squad .As a group we are really looking forward to this game and are hoping to be in the hat for the draw come Monday."

Dewi Llion explains things further " We have seen the TNS highlights and they seem very well drilled with set pieces and we have seen that they have a lot of pace out wide. It will be tough for us especially with missing key players but there is a huge togetherness between the lads now. If you look at our first game of the season when we started with a brand new team you can see that we have only added two players since then and they have got to know each other and how each plays the game. We have also changed the system and the lads have changed their mentality a bit so we will certainly make a game of it come Saturday. "

Can Denbigh Town get into the next round of the JD Welsh Cup ? Come down to Central Park this Saturday and help the lads by showing your support.
