Thomas bags two as Reserves move up to second
Denbigh Town Res 3 - 1 Llanrwst Utd Res
On a wet, windy evening at Central Park , the Reserves beat a youthful Llanrwst Reserves team to move up to second in the Lockstock Welsh Alliance Reserves league.
After an afternoon of torrential rain the pitch stood up well and passed a pitch inspection prior to the game. The Reserves welcomed first team striker Jake Walker and midfielder Sion Jones to their ranks who both started along with new Club signing Harry Lovatt.
Town took the lead on 6 minutes with a great strike from Andy Thomas after some well worked passing.
Ryan Roberts was unlucky to see his long range shot hitting the bar on 32 minutes and the teams went in at half time with Denbigh holding a slender lead
Denbigh extended their lead after 50 minutes when Jake Walker's low shot beat the Llanrwst keeper. However Zac Williams pulled one back for the visitors on 58 minutes and the game was now an even affair.
Andy Thomas got his second with 70 minutes played, curling in a fine shot into the right hand corner of the Llanrwst net. Denbigh then controlled the play and were able to play the game out and take the deserved three points.
Their next fixture is a home game against Colwyn Bay Reserves on Friday 28th September with a 7.30pm kick off
