Reserves remain unbeaten
Denbigh Town Res 2 - 1 Conwy Borough Res
Denbigh Town Reserves remain top of the Welsh Alliance Reserves League with their 100% win record over a well organised youthful Conwy Borough Reserves team.
After an evenly balanced first half which stayed goalless, the Town coaches Kev Roberts and Johnny Roberts saw that a change of strategy was needed in the second half with a more direct appproach on goal required.
It was Conwy however who took the lead on 62 minutes despite Town having hit the crossbar and forcing some great saves from the Conwy keeper.
After 75 minutes Town were level. Andy Thomas weaved his way into the penalty area, was tackled by a defender and in the aftermath with Thomas on the floor, the defender thrust his knee at Thomas’ head. Referee Gray pointed to the spot and Thomas himself blasted the penalty home.
Town now piled on the pressure and in the 85th minute won a corner. A well delivered corner reached Jacob Parry on the far post and he leapt well to send a powerful header into the back of the net.
Town played out the game to come out worthy winners and Kev Roberts said after “ It was’nt the best of performances in the first half. The lads implemented the game plan in the second half and came out worthy winners”
