Denbigh u15s 0 Denbigh Ospreys u16 3
Denbigh u15s played the older Denbigh Ospreys on Saturday and it was Ospreys who were out of the blocks first with some strong crunching tackles which showed their determination to win this match.
The Reds could not settle into their usual game and Ospreys began to shoot from every angle. Although the u15s were a little unlucky after a cross squirmed loose it was no surprise when the first goal came - stabbed home by Justin Jaques on 20 minutes. The u15s made valiant attempts to get back into the game with Gruff Roberts and Ashley Andrews making strong runs on the counter but they had little room to operate and the attacks broke down. Ospreys' Rob Thomas made it 2-0 before half time with a free kick that sailed high into the far corner.
The second half followed the same pattern with Ospreys dominating and u15s trying their best on the break but it was not to be. Sam Lewis for Ospreys made it 3-0 which killed off any hope of a comeback. Daf Williams was a constant danger for Ospreys and Rob Thomas was unlucky with a 25 yarder that clattered the cross bar. It was good to see that the u15s continued to try and play possession football and the tricky left back Ynyr Clwyd was the u15s man of the Match as much for his clever attacking play as well as his defencive work.
