DERBY County Ladies head for Bradford City tomorrow with high hopes for the new Women's Premier League (WPL) campaign.

With six new signings in the bag, the club are hoping this is the year in which their progress off the field can be matched by success on it and – ideally – promotion to the prestigious Women's Super League.

Chief executive Duncan Gibb begins a third year in position and, likewise, the club are in the third year of a five-year plan to secure a WSL spot. Gibb recalls his surprise at the off-field organisation of the club when he stepped on board for the first time.
