This match was a repeat of last year's championship match between Omaha and St. Cloud State, where Omaha won to become 2009 March Madness Tournament champions for their second year running.

St. Cloud State was a tough opponent, and put up an early try and conversion. The Des Moines/Omaha combo squad rallied in the second half and scored three tries using their dominating speed and size advantage to break tackles. Victoria Parker of Des Moines scored the second try with a 40 meter open field run, breaking at least three tackle attempts by St. Cloud. Conversions were made by Omaha's kicker Sara Lantz.
