A game of two halves on a foggy pitch!

The final game of 2016 saw Didcot entertain Hungerford at Boundary Park. Hungerford were sitting second in the league having lost just 2 games.

However, the first half belonged entirely to Didcot. In fact, Hungerford only entered Didcot's 22 on one occasion during the first 40 minutes.

Didcot took the lead after only 2 minutes with a penalty from Josh Witts, Hungerford caught offside. Then in the 25th minute the dominant Didcot scrum walked over a try for Charlie Ellis which was also converted by Josh Witts. Then on 33 minutes, Josh Witts converted a further penalty for a half time score of 13-0.

The second half was a different affair. A series of missed tackles enabled Hungerford a soft try. Score 13-5.

A third penalty in the 49th minute from Josh Witts extended the home sides lead to 16-5. However a return penalty from Hungerford followed to make the score 16-8.

The last 23 minutes were characterised by Didcot digging in deep to hold their lead.

On 57 minutes Carl Betteridge was yellowed card, followed by John Madley on 69 minutes. Hungerford scored a converted try on 75 minutes making the score 16-15.

Didcot defended bravely for the last 5 minutes to take the points.

Happy to take 4 points that were deserved after the 1st half performance.
