Youth players at Didcot form the nucleus of the Hellenic League Division One side, many of them following the footsteps of their fathers

For the third year in succession Didcot Town's Youth team have reached the first round proper of The FA Youth Cup, with a visit to Kenilworth Road against Luton Town.

An enthralling game against Ryman Youth League side Leatherhead took place at the Draycott Engineering Loop Meadow Stadium last night, with the "Railwayboys" edging it four goals to three.

The youth players at Didcot form the nucleus of the club's Hellenic League Division One East side, all local lads and many of them following the footsteps of their fathers at Didcot. Jack Powell, who scored two goals last night, is the son of Didcot Town legend Paul Powell. Charlie Noble, the son of past of player Paul 'Nozzer" Noble - Noz was also assistant manager of the Didcot Town FA Vase winning side. Beckham Janes, son of past player and Youth team joint manager Mark Janes. Both Charlie Noble and Beckham Janes follow on from their brothers who were in the Youth side two years ago, Lewis Noble and Taylor Janes are also team mates with their younger siblings in the Didcot Town Reserves side.

The "Railwayboys" now hope to go one better than the past two years, and progress to the second round proper of the FA Youth Cup. A big ask, but they do not lack determination or ability, and no doubt their fathers will be kicking every ball with them!
