U 13s back on winning ways
Close fought victory with last minute try
On a glorious day Toc H took to the pitch against Old Bedians for their first game in a bit. Toc received and after a slow, sleepy start OB scored in the corner. 0-1. This seemed to wake our boys up and after some good forward play Josh scored 1-1. The game was very. competitive with good tackling and the speedy OB wingers being marshalled well. A good kinky run by Sam 2-1 Toc. OB came back strong and afraid strong running from their forwards 2-2. Suddenly some fluency came to the boys. After a series of good moves and strong tackling Toc went over for their third, 3-2. Looking better before half time the boys switched off for a second and OBs speedy wingers made it 3-3. Taking the ball on their own line, there was a beautiful move down the back line. Dummies, running straight led to a try in the opposite corner, lovely fast flowing rugby. 4-3 half time.....
At the start of the second half Toc threatened after stealing the ball against the head. A series of penalties followed against us and after what resembled an 80s French Flying wedge OB equalised from close range. This seemed to spur OB on and they scored to take the lead 4-5. The fluency of the first half was missing and the crisp passing not there. There needed something to spark the team and after a little bit of handbags it seemed to liven the boys up.....2 quick tries, 6-5 up. Looking to relieve pressure we kicked and they ran it straight back 6-6. A tight finish followed......again some small handbags seemed to spark them into action and after some good attacking play Nathan scored in the corner 7-6.....the final score. A tight game and a tight win. Big heart and good teamwork. Well done boys.
