The Community - The Community 1

It was year 2005 when the FA gave Dinnington Town FC the highest award of FA Charter Standard at Community Club Status. The Status runs for three years and over the last few months the club have been working towards renewal of the award. Today Club Secretary Chris Dearns met with Sheffield and Hallamshire County FA official Marc Birkett who has approved the documentation to renew the award for another three years. The application has been sent forward to the FA for full accreditation.

Marc Birkett said '' On behalf of the Charter Standard Committee congratulations and we look forward to working with you for another three years''

FA Mission statement : -The FA Community Club scheme builds upon the foundations of the Charter Standard scheme in placing clubs at the heart of their community.

Community Clubs, the pinnacle of the club development pathway, will be those that have a high quality, multi-team (minimum of 10 teams) set up with excellent social, training and playing opportunities for all. As such, the number of Community Clubs is one of the truest measures of success for The FA Football Development strategy. All FA Community Clubs are required to meet FA criteria ensuring they provide opportunities for players irrespective of age, gender, religion and ability. Clubs must also provide qualified coaches, first aiders and child protection officers.

Although gaining Community Club status cannot guarantee funding from the Football Foundation for facility improvement, gaining the kite-mark has already been a significant factor in assisting clubs funding applications by providing evidence of a commitment to providing a sporting facility for use by the entire community.

Chris Dearns said '' It was a great achievement getting the FA award in 2005 and now to get the approval for a further three years, it shows the club has not slackened in their efforts to play the game of football at the highest of standards. I would like to take this opportunity to thank everyone at the Club who have helped me and have taken valuable time out of their busy life's to attain their FA qualifications and for their time they spend with our young players over the season. This gives us comfort that the children involved at our club are looked after in the correct way and their welfare is paramount before anything else.''

''A special mention and thanks must go to the Clubs Child Protection Officer Anita White and Junior Club Secretary Zoe Lowe who spend their own valuable time making sure all our volunteers attend the courses and update their qualifications when required''

The Club will be hoping this achievement will help them gain funding in the near future, when they look to provide facilities they need and surely deserve.
