This morning started with quite a hike up to the pitch which was wide and turned out to suit our play as we enjoyed good possession, good passing and some great finishing. The first game took time to get started but once we got used to the strong wind and adapted to playing the ball on the floor we built some good opportunities. The first goal came from such an attack, but as Chapeltown cleared the ball Matty picked it up outside the box and found the goal with the aid of a deflection. We took control in midfield, Oliver looking dangerous down the right and Nick was next on the scoresheet with two goals in three minutes to settle any nerves and it was four before the break as Danny squeezed a shot into the corner for his first of the day. HT 0-4

Chapeltown were quick to break from the restart and brought a fine save from Josh P pushing around the post. However Town scored again through Danny who picked up on a through ball from Will and he coolly finished when through on goal. However we were immediately pegged back as Chapeltown scored virtually straight from the kick off and Town were then to do the same as Nick completed his hattrick, picking up the ball from Matt’s clearance and blasting home. Marcus rounded off the scoring in this match with a few minutes to go as he ran onto Ben’s forward pass to smash the ball into the top left corner. FT 1-7

The boys in the second match continued the same way and moved the ball around creating chances and keeping possession. Great interplay found Josh in the box and he shot into the corner. He then turned provider and found Jamie to the right of goal and first time he curled a shot with the outside of his boot to score. Confidence flowed and Josh scored again after breaking from mid park and slotting a shot under the keeper. HT 0-3

Just minutes into the second half Josh had rounded off his hattrick and Jamie added another. Kaya then came back off the bench to immediately sweep a clearance into the net. We continued to push and Sam was next to rifle a thunderous shot into the top corner of the Chapeltown net. Many more opportunities came and went and with the clock ticking down Kian was denied by the keeper but his determination when the ball broke got him a well deserved goal. The last action was for a steely Chapeltown to score again on the break and deserved it for the fantastic efforts they had put into the game. FT 1-8

With the season coming to a conclusion, Town have 5 matches in three weeks and if they can replicate this kind of team performance we will do quite nicely.

Man of the Matches were awarded to Oliver and Josh C and Star Awards to Nick and Kian.
