At the other end Jordan Toft made a point blank save from a header and a comfortable save from distance but he looked to be beaten with a powerful shot from the area but it hit the whiston attacker with Jack Littlewood clearing. Connor Beighton slid in strong to knock the ball out of play on the left wing as the away team began to find their feet and Alex Elian was on hand to mop up a dangerous through ball as half time approached. But the home team having defended well throughout the first half deservedly went in at the break all square 0-0.
The 2nd half saw Whiston pile on some early pressure and Jordan Toft was again called into action diving low to his left to deny them. The hosts were living dangerously and Tapi Mandishona just managed to nick the ball away for a corner. New signing Jack Littlewood was making a fine home debut at centre back and it looked like Dinnington might hold on for a point.
But their luck ran out as a shot from distance bounced off the post and was collected out wide by the Whiston striker who's low cross was bundled in despite the efforts of the keeper.
Dinnington tried in vain to get back into the game with Daniel Burke going on a mazy run and Louis Hellewell hitting a ball over the top for Declan Stevens but he was crowded out by an impressive Whiston defence. As Dinnington pushed forward for an equaliser they were hit on the break with a 2nd goal for whiston, final score 0-2.
Man of match; Jordan Toft
