Under 9s win Maltby Tournament

On a glorious sunday afternoon our under 9s did the town proud with a terrific tournament win at Maltby. Two teams were entered into the competition and both got through their respective groups. Team A ( Dan Robson, Tom Robinson, Ben Elliott, Callum Elliott, Joseph Storey, Kane Senior and Joe Elliott ) got through with 8pts from their 5 games and Team B ( Rhys Lyons, Sam Moore, Lewis Nadin, Matt Simmons, Kieron Houghton,Diesel Webb and Blake Macefield ) got 9pts from thier 5 games. Team A suffered heatache, conceding a goal in the last minute to go out at the semi-final stage, whilst team B made it to the final via another nail biting penalty shootout. Rhys making a crucial save and Matt and Kieron driving home their kicks to see us through.
In a closely contested final against Hillsborough Pumas, Blake Macefield snatched the opener for Town only for pumas to claim an equaliser shortly after. The game looked set for extra time, but Kieron Houghton was wide awake to slide in the winning goal with literally seconds left.
