Dinting 2nd's fall short despite a spattering of weight and experience
By Dave Bridge
Well,
I was the cumulative age of the 5 juniors in the team and Pete was the cumulative weight, but what a pleasure it was to see these young lads playing in the second team.
It started with Matt Thompson taking a difficult catch off the captain then Ellis making two valiant attempts to take a catch, both attempts attacking the ball. Leon arrived and fielded excellently. Matt came on to bowl and was cheated out of a wicket (according to Lawty who had a mini strop after the home umpire disallowed a stumping). Matt bowled well for a young lad on a cold (very cold) day bowling leggies. If we get dry tracks he will get any wickets.
Joel bowled superbly swinging the ball both ways (smart alec). Ellis came on and bowled straight and on a length, if they missed they were LBW.
They bowled the opposition out for 164 so congratulations to our captain for giving the kids a chance and promoting the future of Dinting CC.
We batted, Jim batted well, Adam did also but both missed straight ones. Not much help from the other senior players and we lost, but we won for the future.
The younger ones batted very well, Leon out to a good catch close in after looking confident. Lee looked good, Joel batting with ease and at the end the smallest senior partnership I can remember were batting superbly until they reacted to calls for two from the boundary and getting run out. Dinting all out for 143
Kit hopefully put back in the loft.
