Matt Dodds our very own 2nd Team Captain and Aylesbury Vale District Council, Biodiversity Officer was fortunate enough recently to spend some time in the company of Sir David Attenborough and here's how the conversation panned out.
"The story is that we grew some Native Black Poplar trees which we were presenting to the royal London boroughs to commemorate the Queen's golden Jubilee. Black Poplars are one of our rarest native trees and the Vale of Aylesbury is where most of the national population is. Sir David - or Dave to me, was presenting the trees to each of the mayors of the boroughs who were all dressed up in their ceremonial outfits. There were more gold chains than a Mr T convention. I had the most surreal 5 minute conversation with Dave about the sexual reproduction habits of Black Poplars - but what else do you talk to a living legend about? Unfortunately I failed to convince him to donate a prize to the christmas raffle or to become president at Dinton, but he is interested in bowling off breaks for the third team."
Haha Class Doddsy! I bet he would knock up a great tea!
