Diss boys played well to win the shield

Six teams played in the tournament. Pool A. Woodbridge, Southwold and Holt 1
Pool B. Diss, Bury SE and Holt
The teams played across the pools to give enough matches.
The first game for Diss was against Holt 1. The game was easier than expected as Diss had runners, were sharper on attack and quick their tackles. With tries from John Webster, Nat Strange, Rob Duffield, Tom Elkins and 2 from George Jones also converting . Beating Holt comfortably 38 - 0
Next Diss played Bury, Diss scored first from Nat Strange but the lead was short lived when Bury who proved as usual to be a strong team scored 3tries in succession. Tom Elkins came back with another for Diss. Bury hit Diss with 3 further tries, Rob Duffield scored the last for Diss to bring the scores Diss 15 - 32 to Bury.
Diss played Southwold next, they were a poor opponent. 3 tris from James Webster, 2 from Ben Brown, John Webster and Tom Elkins also scored a try each. 3 conversions from Ben, 1 from George. Diss with a win 45 - 0.
The last pool game Diss were up against Holt 2. Holt must put their best players in this team, they were tough opponents. Again Diss scored first from George Jones, also converted. Holt equalised, Ben Brown scored again to take the lead. Holt came back with four further converted tries with Diss taking the last try. Diss 19 - 35 Holt.
Diss being the third in their pool, though not one of the weaker teams were put through to the third place shield final against Southwold. Diss won by default as Southwold had gone home.
Diss boys played some good fast rugby and thoroughly enjoyed their day and were happy to take home a shield for their rewards.
Woodbridge beat Holt 2 to win the cup final. Bury SE beat Holt 1 to win the plate final.
Diss team were Dan Blackburn, Ben Brown, Robert Duffield, Tom Elkins, Sam Fawcett, Kyle Harwood-Lefevre, Tom Jacka. George Jones, Fred Sargent, Miles Smith, Nat Strange, James and John Webster.
