Grassroots rugby received a major boost at the weekend as rugby clubs across Wales opened their doors to the public to increase participation in the community game.

The special open days, called 'Join the Beat', were organised by the WRU to welcome prospective players, volunteers, coaches, match officials, first aiders and administrators to the game.Clubs including Dolgellau, Tonna, Pwllheli and Ystradgynlais kicked off the successful recruitment drive in the morning which canvasses the enthusiasm of the Welsh public after the huge interest in Wales' Rugby World Cup campaign. And there's still chance for fans wanting to 'Join the Beat' to get involved, as 54 clubs across the country prepare to open their doors today.
