Davy was associated with Donaghadee RFC from an early age playing in the red and green he loved for many years before turning his attention to the development of the first Minis Section in the Club in which both his sons Kevin and Andy learnt the skills of the game buoyed on by the passion transmitted by their father not only for rugby itself but especially for all things “Dee”. It was then no coincidence that when these groups moved on into the Youth ranks of the day they enjoyed no little success winning a plethora of provincial and national competitions spurred on by Davy and his cohorts. The foundations for the success enjoyed by the Club in Qualifying Rugby in the new millennium were laid by this band of players, coaches and fathers culminating in 2011 when the Millar McCall Wylie Junior Cup was won at Ravenhill with Andy a member of the winning squad as well as being Club Director of Rugby and Davy himself was Club Chairman – a post he fulfilled with his usual diligence and enthusiasm over his two year term in office.

The President, Council and Members of Donaghadee RFC offer their deepest sympathy to Davy’s wife Anne, sons Kevin and Andy and daughter Jude together with the wider family circle at this sad time. Donaldson Park will indeed miss a man whose infectious spirit and love of the game was an integral part of the Club for a great many years.

The Funeral service will take place at Carrowdore Parish Church on the Woburn Road at 2pm on Friday 10th Feb. Reception will follow the service at Donaghadee Rugby Club
