Doncaster started the game with much the same ambition they had finished the season before Christmas. Doncaster had lots of the Ball in the Gateshead half early on, forcing the keeper into two good stops from Kirk Bellerby
and Ash Moore.
Doncasters breakthrough came from Nick Stables
drag flicking there one and only short corner of the game.
In the second half the home team took more possession of the ball and forced a number of mistakes from Doncasters back line.
Gateshead eventually equalized from a short corner.
After the goal Gateshead grew in confidence and began to find holes in Doncaster. First a number of great saves from Nick Dale
then a Clearance of the line by Josh Oades
kept Doncaster in the game.
Thou it was only a matter of time before ex Doncaster junior Mike White found space for two close quarter finishes.
It was not the start to the year Doncaster hoped for but with a double header the next weekend Doncaster have time to change all that around.
