Doncaster 5- Newcastle 2
Early meet for an early scare!
Doncaster, on the back of 2 straight wins felt confident on the long drive to Newcastle Uni even with there top goal scorer Kirk Bellerby missing.
That confidence soon went out the window with a slow and sloppy start from the Doncaster side.
This awful start then went from bad to worse with a number of mistakes letting the Newcastle side with only 3 points to there name take a two goal head start.
It looked a long day ahead for the Doncaster side until Nick Stables found the goal from a short corner, going high to the keeper’s right. Not Nick’s best flick but a welcome foot back in the game.
The goal seemed to spark Doncaster into life with Matthew Gibson playing the holding role becoming more and more involved.
Last weeks man of the match Josh Oades also had a number of dribbles down the left but just could'nt find that right final pass.
Doncaster got level when good work from Andrew Whiting got his first goal of 2011 for Doncaster.
The halftime whistle was a welcome break for Doncaster a few stern words from Coach Graeme Gibson was well needed.
The second half started and straight from the whistle Matthew Gibson threw an aerial to Dario Desfoya who passed to Andrew Whiting whose scuffed shot found Ben Davies for a tap in and the lead!
Doncaster suddenly were a changed side finding large spaces to run into and break down the Newcastle Defence.
Andrew Whiting, Dario Desoya, Matthew Gibson and Russ Saywell all came close before Ben Davies known as "hair" to his team found the cheekiest of touches for his second of the day.
Doncasters comeback was complete when Ben Davies took the ball round the keeper and slotted home for his first Doncaster 2's hat trick...well-done Hair.
Another win for the 2's and yet another strange start. Doncaster are holding Whitley Bay at home this week, a team there drew 4 4 with away.
Whitley Bay certainly wont be kind of team to throw away leads, so lets hope the 2's are up for a game.
