Doncaster Phoenix R.U.F.C. stands as an independent amateur club allied to Doncaster Knights. The club is very progressive with a clear vision of playing the highest standard of rugby attainable by an amateur club adopting professional standards - having already secured Yorkshire 2 status, we aim to be playing in Yorkshire 1 within the next 2 seasons and beyond this have aspirations to play in the Northern leagues.

Our ambition was underlined in the 2009/10 season by the signing of ex Rotherham and Cleckheaton fly half/centre Doug Trivella and the return of Doncaster centre James Mortimore. 2010/11 see’ s a new head coach taking over the rains as ex Doncaster Knights scrum/half fly half Dan Storey replaces Trivella who return’s back to Zimbabwe after a successful 1 years service.

At the present time we regularly run 2 teams and are looking to expand this to 3.

We cater for all players who for whatever reason do not wish or are not ready to pursue a full-time career in professional rugby; a case in point being any player who wishes to play rugby at a good level whilst concurrently progressing a career outside of the game. Whilst being very professional in our training, coaching and administrative methodology we retain a traditional amateur ethos by promoting a strong, sustainable social community within the club, affording players and their families the opportunity of forming lifelong friendships.

Attracting young players from the local community particularly former Doncaster colts is fundamental to our future development. Clearly we offer a distinctly different opportunity to young players to the one offered by professional clubs.
