Match Preview - Wath Upon Dearne (A)
The final fixture before Christmas throws up a South Yorkshrie Derby against near Neighbours Wath Upon Dearne.
Phoenix make the short journey over to Wath on Saturday to face last year’s Yorkshire 3 champions who have continued their rise and currently occupy 4 spot in the league, within touching distance of the promotion places.
Team news is that fly half Jono Storey is unavailable which means a reshuffle in the half backs, Joe Watts returns at 9 with Tim Elliot reverting to outside half. In the pack Joe Horrocks replaces the unavailable Carey Thomas at 7. A new look bench has the lethal combination of experience and menace as Chris Conway makes a surprise return to partner Billy Farley (the experience) and another returnee James Oakley (the menace), who the club welcome back from service out in Libya.
As Phoenix look to end the year on a high they know they can expect to face a tough physical test from a Wath squad who traditionally relish the confined space of their compact home pitch.
